The eye-catching Kiddi Pick PT Cruiser
was presented recently to Paula Dudley - General Manager
of 5+ A DAY by Stuart Johnston of Progressive Enterprises
and David Smith of Freshmax in recognition of Paula’s
efforts in the development of New Zealand’s 5
+ A DAY programme.
The 5+ A Day programme was launched by United Fresh
in September 1994. It has gained a large and enthusiastic
following and as a result, research shows that the consumption
of fresh fruit and vegetables is rising. 5+ A Day is
everywhere - in supermarkets, on packaging, in magazines,
in schools, on buses, on TV and radio, in our newspapers,
and on everyone's lips!
New Zealand is one of 18 countries globally that has
a nationwide 5+ A Day campaign. Latest research shows
that 81% of all New Zealanders are aware of the 5+ A
Day message.
“New Zealand has won the bid
to host the next International 5+ A DAY / World Health
Organisation symposium, meeting in Christchurch in 2004.
This is mostly due to Paula and we are thankful for
Paula’s effort, determination and hard work to
make this happen” said David Smith, Vice President
– United Fresh.
The objective of the 5+ A Day programme
is to encourage all New Zealanders to eat and enjoy
fresh fruit and vegetables. 5+ means 5 or more servings
of fresh fruit and vegetables a day. A serving is about
a handful and is relative to age and size.
